Sander was a pioneer in the modern pharmaceutical  industry, where he established a long history of “firsts” designed to build loyalty among patients and prescribers.  These include the first program to reward patients for treatment persistency and the first “patient success” guarantee program.

As a marketing head of Lederle Laboratories (now Pfizer) and CEO of EuroRSCG Becker (now Havas Health), a leading medical advertising agency, Sander introduced 6 blockbuster brands, each exceeding $2 billion in sales.  In 2018, Sander received a Lifetime Achievement PM 360 Trailblazers Award.
